Now that thats out of the way, let me tell you about performing at the 2012 Gathering of the Juggalos last week... this was my second consecutive year performing at this incredible music festival. For anyone that is trying to get into the business, or cares at all about unsigned/underground rap this is the place you want to be. Juggalo, or not there is soooo many artists here to meet and network with. Some are really bad... some are really good, but ALL of them are doin somethin and working. On top of that, there are people there who still dig music and want to hear fresh unearthed shit..... Now with that being said, this was my 5th Gathering. I attended the first few ones years ago, and even competed in open mic style things... Its sometimes easy for me to minimize things because I'm always moving and doing the next step, but these are the things I daydreamed about when I was a kid. I can remember imagining what ICP might think of MY raps if they ever heard them so it's kind of surreal to actually SEE Violent J listen to my music and say nice things about it. The Gathering is the same thing you know? 12 years ago I was a young kid in the crowd just dreamin... But, I digress...
We showed up Wednesday morning, right when they were opening the gates. Right away we get into a bunch of confusion at the ticket booth, but my wife quickly gets it resolved (as she often does.) Even better, we recognize a few friendly security guys whom we had met the previous year, and they lead us directly where we want to set up shop in a no-camping area next to the stage I'm scheduled to perform on.
I wasn't on until Sunday, the last day of the festival so I had plenty of time to take in the sights and sounds. I watched a lot of performances. Twisted Insane was very impressive. My homie Pony Boy was on point as always, as were my other Michigan homies Origix and D.C. Jelly Roll, the homie Lil Wyte, Haystack, Rittz, and Project Pat all played back to back and put on a hell of a show! Only problem is I was sippin and by the time Pat was on at 5am or so I was dozing off haha. Had to lay it down. I.C.P. put on a great show like they usually do, and their fireworks display was AMAZING.... it shitted on the downtown fireworks in my city, no lie. At least an hour of Kabooms, very cool.
We met a bunch of cool people, kicked it with a lot of familiar faces as well, seen some really crazy shit, some of which cannot be unseen. We passed out 250 copies of the new album, and whoop whooped til we lost our voices. All in all, it was a good time and a success as far as musical journeys go. We hope to do it again, as many times as they will have us back! Thanks Psychopathic!
Until the next time I have some good news to share!
